Hello! My name is Hannah Cirignani, I am from Hinsdale, Illinois. I graduated from Michigan State University in May of 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. This past year, I was a 4th grade teacher intern in the Chicago Public School District, while taking graduate level classes through Michigan State University. Urban education has always been a passion of mine. Through Michigan State University I was able to join the Urban Educator Cohort Program (UECP) and participate in the Urban Immersion Fellowship. The UECP allowed me to enroll in specific education classes that focused on teaching in an urban area, and to participate in professional development seminars directed by experienced urban educators. Urban Immersion was one of the greatest experiences and opportunities I have had as a young educator. During the Urban Immersion Fellowship I taught a math and reading summer school program to second language learners in inner-city Detroit. Since I was a freshman at Michigan State University, I have been able to fully immerse myself in the classroom while learning from and working with over eight mentor teachers who have helped me grow and develop into the teacher that I am today. Finally being able to have my own classroom is a dream come true! Outside of the classroom I love spending time with friends and family, running, and traveling.
